Welcome to MCS Elementary Art!
Hello MCS families!
I'm looking forward to a fantastic year of teaching your child to enjoy, appreciate, and create art. Efforts will be made to correlate art lessons with not only Idaho Art Standards, but also our own unique STEAM school environment as well. We’ll be looking at, and talking about, major works/styles of art as well as various artists and cultures from around the world. We'll also be doing collaborative projects, as well as creating our own masterpieces using the elements and principles of design.
All supplies will be provided, but if you have something you think we might be able to use or make art out of please shoot me an email! If you yourself would like to volunteer to help hang up/take down student work please let me know, or perhaps you have a special talent you'd like to share (i.e., sewing, woodworking, painting, something crafty)? Guest speakers are always welcome and can be a great source of inspiration for our artists.
And finally, in order to provide the best possible learning environment, we'll be developing our guidelines for behavior on the first day of class. This plan will give every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior and will be in effect at all times. The guidelines are pretty straight forward so please review them at home with your child. They spell out ARTIST!
