Revision for the writing that will be in the scroll.
The interesting part of communication is taking the time to get to what you want to say clearly. Here the kids are using their texts for details and carefully explaining what part in the story of The Whipping Boy they like and explaining why. We had a Writers' Circle so that they all know the parts they picked. Sharing helps them clarify what they want and need to say.
Every student picked a different part -- that is what is so cool about using literature!
On the Smartboard and Whiteboard are examples for them to see revision on my own writing for this RAFTS. It always helps to model what we are looking for. The paragraphs they are doing are very interesting to read.
