Trex Awards Show

EXCITING NEWS!!! As many of you know we have been collecting plastic film for the nationwide TREX Film Recycling Challenge.   We are proud to announce that we collected 7735 lbs. of plastic film and we found out today that we were awarded first place out of all schools in the Northwest Region with less than 350 students and will be winning a bench for our efforts in the competition. This will be the 3rd year in a row!

Partnering with Trex, CNG (Charter Next Generation) also created the Recycle2Win challenge which added a monetary prize on top of the Trex challenge to win a bench. Prizes through this additional challenge will be awarded to the top two schools across the nation in the following categories: Elementary, Middle School and High School. The first place school in each category will be awarded $5000 and the second place team will be awarded $2500. There was also a social media element to the challenge as well with a monetary award.

Since we have done so well with the Trex Recycling Challenge this year, they have chosen the Recycle2Win Awards Ceremony to be held right here at MCS! All of the participants for this competition will be honored and they will announce the winners of the Recycle2Win competition live at our school. You are all invited to join us this Friday, April 22nd, at 9 a.m.  You may attend the event in person (we hope that you will), or you can watch it live by clicking the zoom link in our weekly newsletter. If attending in person, please utilize the HIRC parking lot if our lot is full.

Thank you to all our students, families and staff who have helped us make a difference by recycling the plastic film and keeping it out of the landfills! Stay tuned to find out if we are the top school in the nation!
