Sixth Grade Homeroom / Science & Social Studies
I am very excited to teach fifth grade and am honored to have joined the Moscow Charter School!
I graduated from U of I with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Minor in Horticulture in 2010. I then taught the kindergarten enrichment program (with a K-1 after school component) at Building Blocks Child Care Center in Pullman for three years. I completed a year of student teaching at Palouse Hills Christian School with first and second graders and at McDonald Elementary with fourth graders. I have been employed in the retail sector selling everything from plants to shoes to luggage and home décor. I have also spent several winters inside greenhouses with students growing and prepping plants in a scholarship-based program at a private school.
I was born in Yokosuka, Japan but moved to the States when I was 10 months. I've lived in Washington D.C.; Denver, Colorado; and Lewiston and McCall, Idaho. I reside in Moscow and consider the Palouse to be my home. I've been very fortunate to have been able to travel as I've grown up; I've been inside the Statue of Liberty, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Hoover Dam; I've stood inside a cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde, and hiked on the sides of the Grand Canyon. I've also stood in 4 States simultaneously! I've played in the waters of the Atlantic and the Pacific, and even been to North Pole, Alaska!
I'm an avid gardener, reader, fisher, and camper. I believe the world lies at the feet of every student and it only takes caring and supportive adults to help them conquer it. I believe that school should be more than memorizing facts and figures. I am very excited about Plant Clubs and School Gardens!
