Fourth Grade Teacher
Having lived, worked, played, and volunteered in the beautiful Palouse region with my husband and our daughter for nearly 20 years, and now, being able to get to know more families and kids from the Moscow area is a wonderful opportunity. I am very excited to be teaching the 4th graders starting at the end of August!
My background is full of all levels of collaborative teaching in the PreK- 12 continuum, and just this last year subbed in Washington and became Washington certified. It's so good to know what happens only 7 miles away since the two communities are so intertwined. Presently, I have been teaching adult/college prep/ESL with Lewis-Clark State College and the University of Idaho's Project REACCH which is an tri-university integrated research science endeavor. I have a Master's in History from the UI (1999) and love uniting this subject any subject area, especially with art, math, and music!
Many types of travel was part of my growing up years in Alabama whether down to the Gulf or to New York. I was an exchange student in high school, studied in London, and my husband (Pat Blount) and I taught in Florida and experienced overseas life together for many years. Though she doesn't remember her first year of life, our daughter was born in Singapore.:) Getting to know the PNW has been so interesting. We love to camp, cross country ski and hike--really anything outdoors. And coffee. I have been converted from sweet tea to coffee.
I love being involved in our community and bringing all the great people and resources to the kids at the upper elementary level will be fun. Together, we will construct meaningful curriculum. Please feel free to drop by after school to chat or make an appointment. You can contact me by phone or email. We are working together for the kids.
