There is lots of news from the principal’s desk….

Important – Please note that sixth grade graduation has been changed to June 1st.

Field Day has been moved to June 2nd in order to schedule the Jr. High Track

MARS ROVER COMPETITION Friday eighteen students (four teams) went to the University of Idaho to compete in the Mars Rover Competition. The students worked for many weeks to prepare a “rover” made from Legos. The rovers had small motors and the ability to lift small rocks. The students were judged in various categories and we received a trophy for having the lightest rover.(Check out the bulletin board in the front entry. Our thanks go out to Mrs. Aus for sponsoring the program, Mr. Todd and Dr. Williams for volunteering time to help the teams with the engineering and the construction work.

The play performance times are May 25th Matinee at 1:00pm and May 26th 6:30pm.. Both performances will be at the Moscow High School Auditorium

Anne Taunton is continuing the KIDS ONLY RACE. The race will take place on June 4th see the Website for more details.

We are looking for a volunteer to continue this program since Anne is moving.

THE IDAHO CHARTER SCHOOL NETWORK visite d us this Wednesday May 11th at 2:00pm. The agenda was as follows:

Tour of our facility
Demonstration of Morris Dancing
Tour of the website as a means to demonstrate our program focuses
Slide show of our Winter Showcase Preparation Narrated by our theater teacher
Theater Make up demonstration and performance demo

In the morning we toured Palouse Prairie School. The goal of the project is to identify common needs and how they are being met throughout the state.

Teacher In-service days

Teachers worked on STEAM format for next year. We decided to change the block schedule by starting the day with Math and critical thinking with Language Arts coming after recess.

We also decided on Water as the underlying theme for next year. We will have the students come up with the slogan and a Logo. We are also planning an end of the year Science day where the classes will move around and see experiments using water in the various classrooms.

In addition each teacher is designing a unit that incorporates Science and Language Arts. We are ordering trade books to complement these themes.
