MCS Current News

Dear Parents

4/8/2011 -

Dear Parents,

We start ISAT testing on Monday, April 11th. It will be very important to send students to school well rested and with a good breakfast. Even though these tests are a snap shot of how our students perform, the school is evaluated on our over-all student scores. So, we need to encourage students to do their best possible work on these tests.

Thank you for your generous support of the recent Book Fair. As a result of the sales, all teachers had their book wish lists fulfilled. Additional book fair money is being used to purchase class sets of trade books that are science related. These books will be a part of our renewed focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. This focus is sometimes referred to by the acronym STEAM and you will be seeing more of this term in connection with MCS. During the May teacher planning days, we will be focusing on developing STEAM based units for all grades for next school year.

We have a very special guest presenter from NASA coming on April 26t.h Mr. Leavitt will be here all day presenting science topics to different classes. Also, on Friday April 29th some of our students will be competing in the Mars Rover event at the University of Idaho. On that same Friday, we will be having a Health Fair brought to us by University of Idaho Health Education Department. As you can see we are getting “STEAMed” up already.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Sincerely,
Marie Axman Ed.D., Principal, Moscow Charter School
