MCS Current News

Dear Parents,

3/4/2011 - From Dr. Axman

Dear Parents,

We have lots of dancing going on around here. Mrs. Granja is teaching dancing after school on Mondays. We are having an all school dance at the 1912 Center on March 25th where parents and students can dance the night away for a nominal donation. Figuratively we are having to “dance´ for the State Programmatic Audit Team on Monday March 28th and Tuesday March 29th.
If you haven’t heard the Monday afternoon dance class is a culturally based activity where students can learn Renaissance and Morris Dances. Their teacher, Mrs. Granja, is well versed in this type of dance and has taught it many times in the past. Two of her students had the opportunity to perform some of the dances at the Monday Morning Meeting. In addition, two of the teachers were recruited to participate in the dance and everyone could see how much fun this dancing style could be.
The Dance at the 1912 center promises to be a great family evening. Two local bands will play. Mary Donohoe and Cathy Brinkerhoff are both members of these musical groups, so this should add to the fun. The bands have very distinctive styles and the dancing should be very easy to jump right in and enjoy. The funds raised from this event will benefit the end of the year production. So, we hope to see all of you there.

You are probably wondering what a Programmatic Audit is. The State Board of Charter Schools will be coming to visit the school. They will be observing classrooms, looking at our programmatic data, Charter, Goals and other plans. The Audit is quite an intensive process and we will need to schedule lots of meetings with different groups so please stand by for us to request your presence.
I hope you have a great weekend.
