Dear Moscow Charter School Parents,
8/17/2010 - School Board
As many of you may already know, Tim Hand recently resigned. The school thanks him for his years of service with MCS. Mr. Hand had been assigned to teach fifth grade for the coming year, so we have been working to find a new teacher for that position and are happy to announce the position has been filled.
Donal Wilkinson, a popular and effective substitute at MCS as well as the founder and Director of the local not-for-profit Adventure Learning Camp, has accepted the fifth grade teaching position. Prior to moving to Moscow, Mr. Wilkinson taught k-8 science at a school that is now a charter school in Oregon. While there he applied for and was awarded grant funds for electrophoresis equipment to teach basic genetics experiments to the students. Mr. Wilkinson has Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Education and Biology, with a minor in Native American Studies.
In other news, Kathryn (KC) Lee, a head coach in many of the local Skyhawks sports camps and art teacher at Wild@Art pottery studio, has accepted the positions of teaching PE/Movement and Art. While this combination may sound somewhat improbable, you will quickly find that Ms. Lee has a passionate enthusiasm for both endeavors and is highly educated and Washington certified to teach both. Ms. Lee holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with major in Design, Photography and Sculpture and a minor in Coaching, as well as a Master of Education with a major in PE and a Minor in Health Education.
I think these two teachers will bring new strengths to MCS and really do great things with our students. We are very excited to welcome them to our faculty. I hope to see you soon at the Welcome Back Dinner (Tuesday, August 31, 5:30-7:30).
