An urgent message from the Moscow Charter School Board Treasurer
Dear Moscow Charter School Parents,
I am writing to inform you how vitally important the suggested donation is in allowing Moscow Charter School to continue being the wonderful place it is for learning. I am sure that you are aware, as a charter school, we do not collect local levy monies and receive significantly less funding from the State and Federal government than other public schools. “Idaho charter schools received $6,178 per pupil, but district schools would have received $8,179 to educate the same students - a difference of $2,001 or 24.5 percent”. (Taken from page 10 of a report commissioned by the Albertson Foundation-www.jkaf.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/IDAHO-IN-FOCUS-report-.pdf)
The suggested donations are used to fund specialty classes, school maintenance, heating/cooling, water/sewer, and anything else that may arise throughout the year. State funding is insufficient, so we need to continue requesting payment of this suggested donation. The suggested minimum donation is $200 per student per year.
This year our suggested donations are down by more than $6,000 compared to 2012-13. This corresponds to only 23 of 94 families contributing to MCS. There are many different ways you can make this contribution such as one full sum, a payment plan, bill pay from your bank account, or the donation button on the schools website. Any donation up to $2,000 gives you half the amount back in an Idaho State Income Tax credit (real money in your pocket) and will also generate a taxable deduction for your Federal taxes.
If you would like to make this an end of year tax donation you can mail a check to Moscow Charter School at the address below, use bill pay from your bank account, drop off payments during school hours in the main office or put after office hours donations in the drop box outside the front door. The school will issue you with a letter for your tax filing purposes. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and most especially for contributing desperately needed funds to Moscow Charter School.
