For Parents
Moscow Charter School relies heavily on the efforts of all the school families. Moscow Charter School is a public school; however, charter schools do not benefit from the additional monies from local mill levies or building levies. This difference means Moscow Charter School must operate more efficiently and more frugally than district schools. It is a necessity for the smooth operation of the school for parents/guardians to volunteer their time, talent, and resources. If everyone contributes, no one person or group of people will have to volunteer for all the projects or fundraisers. Each family should plan to be involved in one or two events during the school year.
Research shows that when parents/guardians are committed to their children's education and actively participate in school activities, children have greater academic success and higher self-esteem.
What can volunteers do? Volunteers are needed for field trips, routine classroom and office chores, unpacking, cleaning, organizing, serving on committees, and organizing events. We also need people who can help with landscaping and routine building maintenance.
