The Moscow Charter School Garden Club is Blooming!
A few parents and students kicked off the MCS garden a few days after school was out in June 2011. We tilled the earth and amended it with some compost. We then set about making rows and planting. Our plant choices included some heirloom pumpkins, giant sunflowers and gourds. We even planted a few seeds from Mr. Tousley's gigantic pumpkin.
Luckily, our garden plot is close to the school. You can find it at the Moscow Community Garden located directly across the street next to the HIRC. You can easily see our giant sunflowers! Throughout the summer the garden has taken form as we've watered, weeded, and tended our plants. We hope to continue to utilize it through the coming months with classroom teachers and with the newly formed Garden Club.
Beginning in September through October the Garden Club will meet once a week to tend our garden and plan for next year. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 7th from 3:00-4:00PM. We'll meet by the school bike rack and walk over to the garden. If your student is interested in joining the Garden Club, please contact Lianne Wappett at email@example.com
