A Message from the Board Chair

Dear MCS Families,

As I write this, Moscow Charter School is preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our opening as Idaho’s first charter school. I am very proud of all that MCS and its wonderful staff, students, and families have achieved over those 20 years.

MCS was founded to give students access to state-of-the-art technology in their classrooms – not just for the sake of having technology, but to integrate it into lessons in order to provide students with the best possible opportunities. Although technology has changed a LOT since 1998, we are still doing that today – including our new classroom set of virtual reality headsets that students can use to take field trips to just about anywhere on or off Earth! I hope many of you have been able to try those out on a visit to the school.

Technology is great, but I think the most important thing about MCS is the supportive community it fosters. Our students look out for each other, at MCS and after they go on to other schools. Our families are actively involved with MCS, and it’s always great to see so many people turn out for school events like the Back to School Picnic, the Winter Festival, and the school play. I also applaud the parents of the Parent Action Team, as well as my fellow board members, for their dedication and hard work in supporting the school. Finally, our great teaching and support staff, and our fearless leader Mr. B, all contribute in countless ways to make MCS the best possible environment for everyone and to contribute to the greater Moscow community as well.

I look forward to celebrating everything we have accomplished with you this year. I know the next 20 years will bring us all sort of exciting new instructional technologies to use. I look forward to incorporating those as we keep MCS the welcoming community it has always been.

Sincerely yours,

Leslie Baker

Chair, Moscow Charter School Board of Directors
